After 13 years, Collicello North housing project gets updated plan so it can move forward

The Harrisonburg City Council unanimously approved a change to the planned Collicello North housing development’s master plan that gets the 13-year-old project one step closer to being built.

Council denies townhomes development, allows for bow-hunting of deer

The Harrisonburg City Council turned down a rezoning request to construct several dozen townhomes off Port Republic Road in a rare 3-2 vote. The council also amended an ordinance to grant some leniency to bow hunters who plan to hunt deer and other game within the city limits during archery seasons.

After considering arguments Tuesday for and against a nearly 900-unit housing development along Garber’s Church Road and Erickson Avenue, the Harrisonburg Planning Commission ultimately voted unanimously to recommend the project for the city council’s approval.
