The Friendly City Food Co-op will celebrate autumn and National Co-op Month with a Community Harvest Party from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the store’s parking lot.

Council OKs new mixed-use development on Port Republic Road aimed at students

Almost a month after the Harrisonburg School Board voted to allow collective bargaining for teachers and staff in city schools, the initiative now hangs in limbo as union representatives have raised concerns with several issues in the language of the resolution.

City school district considers changes to its school resource officer program

Harrisonburg City Public Schools will consider ways to improve school resource officer (SRO) relationships in schools, including introducing annual “check-ins” with facilitated dialogue, adding language to a policy that aims to protect students and expanding the group tasked with providing oversight of the program.
