Lawsuit against city schools over teacher training ends after 2 years

A more than two-year-old lawsuit against the Harrisonburg School Board is over, with a conservative group declaring victory and the school district saying nothing really changes with the legal resolution.

Judge’s ruling says plaintiffs failed to show that school policies about student names and pronouns violated parents’ rights

In an apparent win for the Harrisonburg School Board, Rockingham County Circuit Court Judge Andrew Baugher denied a motion for a temporary injunction on the district’s policies and approaches related to students’ gender identities and pronouns.

A lawsuit filed last week against the Harrisonburg School Board came after months of correspondence between the national organization representing the six local plaintiffs and school officials over the district’s policies regarding transgender students.
