As second pandemic semester begins, universities apply lessons learned
The second full semester of the COVID-19 era classes at EMU got off to a smoother start than the first, when several positive tests among residence hall staff resulted in a two-week postponement of move-in day. This time, on Jan. 17 EMU finished testing all 340 undergraduates who live on campus, with just one positive result, and classes began as scheduled on Jan. 19.

Community Perspective – Augsburgers still going 90 miles an hour
He is 91, she’s 90. But their ages are misleading. Myron Shenk Augsburger and Esther Kniss Augsburger are only slowing their fast pace long enough to celebrate 70 years of married life. The couple was married Nov. 28, 1950 in Elida, Ohio, the ceremony postponed two days due to a raging snowstorm.

‘Dream Hike’ up Kilimanjaro to honor legacy of EMU graduate and fund memorial scholarship
Rising more than three miles above the surrounding plain to 19,341 feet, Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa. Every year, thousands attempt to reach its peak and bag one of mountaineering’s “Seven Summits.” Beginning tomorrow, a group will begin hiking up Kilimanjaro with a bigger goal than just reaching the top. Each step they take will be in remembrance of Michael “M.J.” Sharp, a 2005 graduate of Eastern Mennonite University, and every mile they conquer will raise money for a scholarship established there in his legacy.
