What’s a cohousing community? Inside the plan for Juniper Hill Commons.

Juniper Hill Commons is slated to be the first cohousing neighborhood built in Harrisonburg — the culmination of dream 10 years in the making. But before it can become a reality, it needs a few more future residents to commit to purchasing one of the 27 houses on the property, which is located on Keezletown Road.

Cohousing members celebrate Earth Day where they plan to grow a community

On a warm, sunny Saturday, members of a Harrisonburg cohousing group hosted an open House to celebrate Earth Day at the future site of their community, Juniper Hill Commons, which could begin construction before the end of the year.

Juniper Hill developers to offer a sneak peek at the properties and explain the cohousing concept

To celebrate National Cohousing Day on April 24, the organization Harrisonburg Cohousing will host an open house of the recently-approved development, Juniper Hill Commons, a multigenerational planned community on Keezletown Road. The organization is continuing to work on details of a comprehensive site plan to submit to the city for further approval. But the open house will serve to introduce members of the community to the cohousing concept and potentially to their future homes.

Council approves planned neighborhood; City outlines coronavirus preparations

A multi-generational planned community is one step closer to fruition after their rezoning request won approval from the Harrisonburg City Council in their meeting Tuesday evening. The group Harrisonburg Cohousing plans to build the neighborhood, called Juniper Hill Commons, on a five-and-a-half acre plot on Keezletown Road, just off of Country Club Road.
