At this year’s oyster dinner fundraiser, the focus went beyond Sen. Obenshain’s attempt to win a fifth term to serve as a kick-off for the pivotal 2019 campaign season where Republicans are seeking to maintain their majorities in the General Assembly.
The ballots are set for the contenders vying for legislative seats representing the Valley. And the action on the campaign trail will increase soon, especially for “firehouse primary” in April that will decide the Republican nominee in the 25thState Delegate District that covers southern Rockingham County.
Democrat April Moore has announced her run for the 26th state Senate District seat held by Republican Sen. Mark Obenshain. Obenshain defeated Moore in the 2015 general election with more than twice the number of votes— 25,042 to 11,308.
